A Calling...

Hmm, so I got a calling today. I haven't really liked going to church since I've been home because I don't want to go to the single's ward and I don't really like going to Relief Society by myself (since my mom is in Young Women's) in my home ward. I usually have "friends" who I go to Relief Society with but it's still not the same. haha so um, yeah, it's just really not all that fun. But today, I went to Young Women's because my Relief Society buddy was out of town and I didn't want to go without her. So I went with the Laurels. And right at the beginning of our lesson, my dad walked in and took me out of class. I thought that I was in trouble and that he was going to tell me I needed to go to Relief Society but instead, we went on a wild goose chase through the entire building looking for Bro. Parent. Once we finally found him, he issued me a call. Which is what I figured would happen I just didn't know what the call would be. Well, drum roll please...

I'm going to be teaching the 8 year olds. Which sounds all precious and cute but it really isn't going to be. Mostly because it's Allie's class and so I know all the kids pretty well so I feel like they're not going to be very well behaved. I'll just have to crack the whip. So yeah, I start next week. And it should be quite the adventure. But it'll be nice because I'll be able to prepare my lessons at work... since I have nothing else to do...

Oh, and on a semi-related note (but not really), last night, we went to the Wright's Adult Session of Stake Conference. And they live in San Jose. So you might be wondering why we drove 20+ minutes to go to a Stake Conference when it isn't even our stake. Well, we had a very good reason to go. And that reason was this guy:

That's right. Elder Richard G. Scott (of the Twelve) was there. He was so cute. And he is way short in person. Haha but it was so cool to be in the same room as an apostle. Well, I guess since I've been to Conference I've been in the same room as them but that's not the same. I was like, 15 feet away from him maybe during the whole meeting and then we got to shake his hand at the end. That's really the only reason I went. To shake his hand. haha so mission accomplished. :)

Perfect Day at Work.

First a recap of my last few days in Rexburg:

Monday, Josh and I met at the MC to just, hang out. But we wanted something to do so we were going to watch the Olympics back at Biddulph but it wasn't working. So we got the Lion King and his computer and went back to the MC.

We couldn't find a good place to plug in his computer (after scouring the entire building...) for forever but then we actually did find a place to watch the movie. haha so it was all good. :) After the movie, we went to dinner at Gringo's which was yummy (and also where we went on one of our few dates last semester...) then we walked back to Sasha's to pick her up for our double date. We were going to go rock climbing, but as we were walking there, we decided it was too far of a walk so we went to the Rex to go bowling instead. Bowling was fun. Josh won but I got second so it's all good. Ricardo and Sasha are super fun. I would totally hang out with them if I lived in Rexburg. After bowling, we decided we wanted to see a movie, but none of them were starting for a while so we went to Walmart and then to Coldstone and then to Wendy's. Then we watched Sherlock Holmes which was pretty good. We were late for curfew but not by that much so whatever. Wow, long day. Tuesday, I woke up kinda early and met Josh at the MC right after his class and then we had a fun little chat... :/ but then we went to the Post Office to get his package and then we walked up to the temple.

We were up on the temple grounds for a few hours. It was really nice to just be close to him since it would be our last day together in a really long time. After we were too cold, we walked back to the MC where we ate lunch and just sat and chatted and then we went back to Michelle's, I finished packing, and then we walked to the Hart where I said the hardest goodbye, got on the shuttle and left. I seriously felt like someone had ripped my heart out and that it is still in Rexburg. I felt horrible. I started crying on the shuttle just because leaving him was so hard. Hmm, but the shuttle was eh, pretty normal. I kept falling asleep and so no one sat next to me (because I was taking up more than one seat), which was nice. I met this girl named Veronica, who is from Danville. She went up to Rexburg for a boy too. And when she got on the shuttle, we both just looked bad. haha But she sat next to me on the flight out there, and was in the seat in front of me on the flight home. And we took both shuttles together which was pretty crazy. I had to wait at the Oakland airport for a while waiting to be picked up because Mom and Dad thought it would be a good idea to go to the temple and do a session on the way to pick me up. So they were late. But I got to talk to Josh on the phone while I was waiting so it wasn't that big of a deal. Then we stopped at Taco Bell on the way home, and then ate our food while watching the Olympics before going to bed. haha it was weird to be home.

So, I ca
me back to work on Wednesday after getting back from Rexburg on Tuesday night. Which was nice to get right back into things although it was a little hard to wake up on Wednesday morning (even though I got to sleep in a little bit later...). Work on Wednesday was eh, alright. It was hard to be back home after such a good weekend. Especially since I don't really do anything at work anyway... Oh well. Wednesday night, I babysat for the Halls which was... interesting. Those girls are terrible. I don't understand how they are so bad. Anyway... When I left, I got in Cupperton, turned the car on, sent a quick text, and when I looked up, everything was dark. All the interior lighting was off. No speedometer, no radio, no nothing. Well, everything was still working, because I continued listening to my music I just couldn't see the display. So I started driving. But then, I realized that I didn't know how fast I was going or anything. A quick call home... and nothing was solved. So I drove home, with the lights off. It was like a blackout in my car. Super exciting.

Yesterday, I actually had a lot of work to do at work. I was pretty busy like all day long which was nice. And I actually knew what I was doing (partly because I convince people to send UPS because that's all I really know how to deal with... haha). Then I got to go home, watch the Bachelor from Monday, and then go babysit for the Johnson's. My car is still dark so it was pretty crazy. Luckily I am pretty good at knowing roughly how fast I'm going and I have driven to their house many-a-times. I watched the Olympics there and skyped Josh and got paid. Wonderful night.

Well, I rented The Proposal from Redbox yesterday because for some reason, I haven't seen it. And neither has Jack or mom. So we were going to watch it. I brought it to the Johnson's but then I didn't want to have to stop partway through the movie so I didn't start it. But I had a brilliant idea. I bring the movie to work, and watch it on a laptop.

So, today, I brought the movie and a laptop to work. And since Ron is in Utah, I really have nothing to do in the mornings besides answer the phone. So I sat and watched the movie all morning. Usually there are quite a few phone calls but today, during the movie, there was like one. So perfect. I am going to do this every Monday and Friday from now on I think. Then, after my movie, I had lunch delivered to me. I've had Jamba Juice Wednesday and Thursday (because Jack is a chipmunk from her wisdom teeth extraction and can't really eat anything...) so I was hoping to get some today as well. But she wanted french fries from McDonalds today so today for lunch, I got french fries and a McFlurry (from McDonald's) and a zesty chicken bowl from Taco Bell. haha I'm going to get fat... Ron also has these delicious hard candies in a bowl upstairs that I can't stop eating. (You know those fun strawberry flavored candies that were in a red speckled wrapper with the green "stem" to make them look like strawberries? These:

Yeah, it's the same kind of candies only there are a bunch more flavors (like pineapple and lemon and orange...). SO yummy.) Luckily, I have to go up and down stairs a lot during the day, so that's like working out, right? Hahaha no. :/ But yeah, I am babysitting again tonight (that's three nights in a row...) which should be interesting... I guess. I don't really have any other exciting plans for the weekend or anything so uh, yep. Sorry this is insanely long...The end.

Valentine's Day

I feel like a horrible person when I say this but I think that Valentine's Day is the dumbest holiday ever. It is so dumb. And I have an amazing boyfriend and I still don't like the idea of Valentine's day. It is just a Hallmark holiday. And a day for chocolate companies to make a lot of money. But why should everyone in the world be told what day to tell their loved one(s?) that they do love them. It should be spontaneous and all throughout the year. Whatever, it's a dumb holiday.

Anyway, I'm in Rexburg now. And I've been here since Friday afternoon. It has been super fun. I miss living here so much.

On Friday, after I got here later than expected, Josh and Ricardo met me at the shuttle and then we walked over to Michelle's and we hung out there for a while, watching youtube videos and just hanging out. Erin came over after a little while and we just kept hanging out. It was so fun to be back with them again. Then we went to dinner at Original Thai, which was so good. Then we came back to Michelle's and watched the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics and then we went to go and see The Princess and the Frog with Michelle's roommates. That was fun. Then we came home and I went to bed.

Yesterday, I woke up at 4:40 (am) to go to Josh's hockey game that started at 5. I ended up being a little late to the game because it was so hard to get out of bed but it was really fun to see him play and it was worth not getting sleep. Then after the game, we both went and showered and got ready and such and then he came back over to Michelle's and then we walked to Broulim's to get some breakfast good because we were hungry. So then we made pancakes which were super good. Then he left to go and take a nap, because he was exhausted, and Michelle, Erin and I hung out. It was fun. Then, he came back over and we watched the Olympics and then we went to Craigo's for a late lunch. It was delicious. Alisha, (Michelle's roommate/my old science group member) was going snow-shoeing with this guy on a date but she didn't want to just go the two of them so we all went along with them. Mike, Alisha, Michelle, Erin, Josh and I. It was super fun. Except it randomly got way cold at the end and we were all wet and snow covered. But it was still fun and really pretty to be up in the mountains. On the ride home, Josh and I both fell asleep, because we were so tired, and everyone thought that we were way cute. haha so funny.

Then today, I went to church with Josh, which was funny because it's my old ward and it seems so different than how it was before. I like didn't recognize anyone. But it was still good. Then I talked to Jessica on the phone for an hour which was greatly needed and then I took a wonderful nap. And I was out. Someone could've walked kicked down the door and I wouldn't have woken up. Then Josh and I hung out in the MC and tried watching the Olympics online but we couldn't get it to work so we just watched other videos on youtube and stuff. Then we went to dinner at Erin's which was fun. We were there for a really long time. But it was fun to hang out with Erin. I miss that girl a lot. Then we went over to Sasha's and then to Cami's place because apparently they wanted to meet me. They are super awesome. I would totally hang out with them if I was up here now for school. Then Josh and I went on a walk. hahaha which was really nice. It's been surprisingly warm here (well, like in the twenties I'd assume. maybe a little colder...) so yeah, it was good. :)

Tomorrow, I get to finally sleep in. Which I haven't done in more than a week. And it's definitely catching up to me. I'm exhausted... probably because I got 5 hours of sleep Thursday, then 4 hours on Friday and then like 6 last night. So I'm going to go to bed now. Tomorrow will probably be pretty busy and then Tuesday will probably be semi- busy as well. And then I start work again on Wednesday. Ugh, I'm already dreading going back home. I don't want to leave Rexburg....

Update:

I feel like I always have the most interesting work stories. They're just so bizzare. This week was pretty normal. I feel like I mostly know what I'm doing now at work and what needs to get done and I have a pretty regular routine now, which is nice. But since I am going to Rexburg for the weekend, and Shaun quit last week, there isn't anyone to work while I'm gone. So what do they do?

Cindy, who works in their St. George office flew in on Wednesday night and came in on Thursday and I "trained" her in the mail counter so that she would know what to do while I'm gone on Friday-Tuesday. I thought that she'd be watching me like all day long but she was upstairs mostly the entire day so I feel like this weekend is going to be pretty rough for her but hopefully she'll do fine. I'm nervous for her. But yeah, it's so strange that she flew in for the weekend but I guess they didn't really have any other options so it's alright. I can understand why they didn't want to hire a new person so quickly so they only had the option of finding someone that they knew and they would trust. It's just so... strange.

But yes, I'm currently sitting in the Salt Lake Airport, waiting for my shuttle that leaves in 30 minutes. I am so excited to be back in Rexburg. I miss it. And I'm super excited to see Josh, Erin and Michelle. Ahh, it's going to be so fun. I also am super excited to meet Ricardo and Sasha and like, everyone else that I've heard so much about. It's going to be fantastic. Except for the fact that we're not going to get any sleep the whole weekend but I think that will be okay... kinda.

The only thing that would make this weekend that much more fun would be if Jessica was coming too. It's super depressing because I haven't seen here in 8 weeks and I won't see here for another 8 weeks or so. Super sad. But hopefully our road trip will happen and that will make up for the fact that she isn't in Rexburg this weekend. :)

Work pt. 3

Well, I have another work update:

I came into work today at 11 (which is an hour and a half before I was supposed to). Why you ask? Apparently Shaun quit this morning. hahahaha so Lisa called me and asked if I could come in to help cover for him. And I'm going to be working full time (8:30-5) everyday now until they find another replacement for him. Luckily, I feel pretty comfortable with what I have to do. And Ron is there so I can just have him do stuff if I don't know how to do it. Hmm, it's pretty interesting. But I guess this just means I'll get a lot more money than I would've originally.

Luckily, I managed to figure everything out and it wasn't really a problem. I knew pretty well how to deal with customers (and there were actually a lot today). And I feel like I really know what's going on which is really good. I'm sure that tomorrow is going to be really interesting. And as much as I enjoy getting paid more, I actually am really hoping they find a replacement for Fran/Shaun soon because I like sleeping in. Haha and it's a little bit stressful because there's a bunch of stuff that Fran showed Shaun that I didn't learn because it wasn't supposed to be my job... and now it is. So hopefully by next week, they have someone.

It's funny because I haven't had a day where I went into work knowing what to expect:

Tuesday: I had no idea what to expect since it was my first day and I was practically left alone for quite some time.

Wednesday: I thought the new guy was going to be there so I didn't really know what to expect from him or how it would be with the three of us there.

Thursday: I did meet the new guy. And it was interesting just trying to get adjusted and figuring out what to do.

Friday: Ron was in Utah and it was Fran's last day so it was our last chance to learn anything from her.

Monday: Fran was gone. It was just me and Shaun (since Ron was still in Utah).

Tuesday: I came in early because of the departure of Shaun (who only worked there for 3 days...)

Wednesday (tomorrow): I go in early. I don't even know what I am supposed to do in the mornings. Hmm, this is going to be super interesting. Wish me luck?
